It is strange when your own birthdays no longer make you feel old, but your children’s birthdays start doing that to you! I can’t believe Mr. Cade is five and will be getting ready to head off to kindergarten in the fall. He is so inquisitive about everything and he listens to EVERYTHING you say (whether he follows what he hears is another story), so absolutely nothing gets by him. He loves trains, cars, trucks, planes, playing outside, reading books, and Star Wars. He has seemingly unlimited energy and plays hard all day long. He especially loves when he has an unusual day where Dad is home to play!
We had a great time celebrating his birthday. Cade chose Star Wars for his birthday theme. The whole family decked out in our nerd gear all day to celebrate.
PRESENTS!
When Tyler got home from his night of being on-call, Cade got to open his presents! He got some Star Wars stuff from Lydia, a new bike from Mom & Dad, a pirate ship, games, a new train book called Locomotive from Grandma & Grandpa Hyatt, a Cars make your own story book from Aunt Jess, some books and workbooks from Grandma & Grandpa Dahl, and awesome cards from his Aunts and Uncles. He got a bunch of phone calls all day and felt like a superstar with all of the attention!
PLAY TIME!
Even though Cade got a bike for his birthday, it was snow/raining all day, so he didn’t get to try it out on his birthday. Since the weather was so lovely, we decided to spend the day playing at an indoor playground. Mom and Dad even “got” to play around in it with the kids. It was quite the workout for us and the kids had a great time.
YODA CAKE TIME!
Cade requested a Yoda cake. He also requested that the cake be green, like Yoda. So we had a key lime cake with lime frosting accompanied by lime sherbet.
LIGHT SABER FIGHTS!
I think the inflatable light sabers were a great investment from the Target party aisle. They even let Marshall get in the fun for a while. The hour or so of fighting would be the reason Cade looks like he just took a shower in all of his cake pictures, he was dripping with sweat!
I think Cade had a great day! Thank you to all of the people who show Cade how much they love him! We sure love him and are so happy to have this 5 year old in our family!
Happy Birthday Cade!
