Miss Lydia turned three on Sunday! Since her birthday was on Sunday and Sunday’s aren’t typically the “most fun” day for birthdays, we tried to make the day before fun also.
On Saturday we went to Minnehaha Falls hoping to take a nice walk and explore the park around the falls. Unfortunately, we got off to a bumpy start when we encountered a charity bike race that was wrapping up at the top of the falls. Our misfortune continued as Tyler locked the keys in the car so we got to utilize our AAA membership. Then we had a fun walk and we discovered the visitors’ center at the lock and dam on the river. It was actually pretty cool to see and we got to see the lock operate as a sheriff’s boat came up the river. Then unfortunately it started to rain, luckily Dad and Cade made a run for it and picked the rest of us up in the car!
We then headed to Dairy Queen, where Grandma and Grandpa Hyatt treated us to ice cream treats again! Birthdays are the best!
On Sunday, Lydia was up early wanting to open her presents. She got a new soccer ball, lots of hair stuff, a pirate ship (now she can play pirates with Cade and his ship), a cupcake purse, Pinkalicious books, Disney characters, a Wild sweatshirt, and a panda bear.
Then we headed to church. After church, Miss Lyds ordered Pizza Bubbles for dinner and then it was time for her Minnie Party!
She insisted on having one of Minnie’s ears. That black frosting is something else to clean up!
We had a wonderful birthday weekend! Lyds is our feisty little red-head. She is a sweet little girl who knows just what she wants. She is quite the drama queen and actress – I often wonder how we will survive her teenage years if her personality remains the same! However, we love her to death and love the entertainment and excitement she adds to our family!
Happy Birthday Beautiful Girl!!!!
