The day after Christmas we drove to Wisconsin to spend time with my family. On the way, of course, we stopped for Wisconsin Cheese Curds and beef sticks. YUMMMM!
We went straight to Great-Grandma Hanson’s house on Lake Winneconne. Cade was able to meet some of his first cousins-once removed and his Great-Aunt & Uncle Keri & Ted & Great-Uncle Conley. (I think I have all that pedigree correct.)
We also introduced Cade to my fishing buddy "Grandpa" Kuhns and "Grandma" Kuhns. (My Grandma's next door neighbors have become "adopted grandparents.")

Back at Grandma & Grandpa Hyatt’s house, Cade got spoiled again with Christmas presents-Round 2.
Being the only grandkid on both sides has some perks!

Cade enjoyed a variety of activities while in Wisconsin:
taking naps with Grandpa Hyatt,
playing in the ball box,
and just getting into everything!
On New Year’s Eve Grandma Hanson & Conley joined us for our traditional fondue feast! Unfortunately, Cade thought he should stay up until midnight as well…thus putting a bit of a damper on any games playing or movies Mom & Dad wanted to watch. Oh, well!
We were able to see my friend Molly and hear the exciting news of her engagement in person! Congrats!
On New Year’s Day we packed up and headed back towards Virginia. After caravanning with my parents to drop Carly off at the Milwaukee airport, we were treated to burgers and custard at an old favorite: Kopps! Delicious!
It was SO HARD to leave after two fun filled weeks with both Tyler’s family and my family! Thank you to everyone for your generosity and for all the fun we were able to have with you!
We also need to say a HUGE thank you to our friends Brian & Becky in Indianapolis who let us stay with them on both legs of our trip. Cade loved playing with their little boy Josh. Their hospitality was wonderful and was a great help to us! Thanks again!
This is Cade wielding Josh’s sword while we were staying with them.
Now it is back to reality. Tyler started school again on Monday the 4th. He is studying as hard as ever and Cade and I are trying not to be too much of a distraction to him.
We miss you already and hope you all are having a happy new year!
Love the pictures...especially the one where he is taking a nap on Grandpa. Also, you have probably noticed that the ball box picture got cut off...But when you click on it it shows up complete and looks fantastic. Loved seeing you...
ReplyDeleteRachel. I asked about the baby tonight at church and your dad clued us in on your blog. He is very cute and I think he looks like you. Juli will be so glad to see your blog too. I will email her the link. I didn't know you were here over Christmas. I can't figure out how we missed you.

Your parents look like proud grandparents! He's a cutie, so why wouldn't they?! When do you want to come spend a day in Richmond? Come have lunch and hang out with Cade on a weekday while both our husbands are in school. Or pick a time when we can hang out with our hubbies.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tricia! Our trip was so fast - we can't wait to come back! I love looking at Juli's blog, so cute!
