Boston

On our way home from Cape Cod, we stopped in Boston.  We only had one day to spend there and quickly realized we could spend much more time there.  We definitely hope to go back someday.  We had some good travel tips from our friends Nicole & Laura.  Thanks guys!

Although public transportation was recommended, we just sucked it up and paid the $23 dollars to park in the Boston Common parking ramp.

We then commenced on The Freedom Trail, a walking tour that passes along many of the city’s historic sites.  Never do you feel more like a tourist than when you are reading a AAA guidebook while literally following a red brick/painted line around the city.  It was, however, very interesting, informative, and fun!

Here are some pictures from along the trail:

DSC02766 along the trail we saw several graveyards, where many historical figures are buried including Samuel Adams, John Hancock, and Paul Revere among othersDSC02764 DSC02769 some of the very detailed and macabre designs on the headstones

Then we entered the North End or Little Italy.  Just walking through there made my mouth water.  I wanted to stop at every bakery and gelato stand.  Next time we will have to budget extra time to spend there!

In the gift shop at the church we bought Cade a beautifully illustrated children’s book version of Longfellow’s Paul Revere’s Ride.

We, unfortunately, didn’t make it to Bunker Hill or to the USS Constitution on this trip.  We followed the little red path back  to Boston Common and then walked to the adjacent Boston Public Garden.

Both the Common and the Public Garden were beautiful.  We enjoyed a ride on the swan boats.

Before we left, we made sure to see the Make Way for Ducklings statue.  I loved that book as a kid!

That night we stopped at the L.D.S. Boston Temple.DSC02815

We got up early the next morning and drove home.  We had a great time in New England and hope to be able to visit again and see all of the things we missed!

  1. Looked like you had fun...Cade is very cute. That had to be funny watching him trying to close all the beaks.
